A car whether it is a luxury sedan or an ordinary vehicle it is always provided with an A.C. A.C can suddenly stop functioning due to various reasons and even at times it can cause a severe breakdown which can cost very dearly- as well as the cost of buying a new one.

Besides the refrigeration following are the main components of an AC:
Compressor, condenser, evaporator and receivers. These work in synchronization to keep AC working.
Check the leaks – This is to be done with the help of fluorescent dye which can be added to the system to check the leaks. The leak testing fluorescent dye kits along with the instructions are readily available in most auto supply stores. If the leak is severe, causing the system without pressure, find the low – side valve and check the pressure of the system with the help of a pressure gauge. Poking of the valve is not at all advisable as this may vent out the cooling gas. If necessary the system should be supplemented with the refrigerant after a leak is attended to.
Operation of compressors: Make sure the compressor is turning. When the electric clutch is engaged, the outer pulley and the inner hub turn. If the pulley is found not turning when putting AC and blower on it is to be understood that clutch is not engaging. This may be due to bad fuse, wiring problem and broken AC switch in the dashboard. This can also happen due to the operation of low pressure safety cut out switch- a case of less refrigerant.
Other necessary checks: Perfect Conditions of the parts like switches, fuses, condition of wires, torn fan belts and seal are to be checked.
